I messed around and finally got the rear shocks off, and new seals installed, along with new upper & lower bushings, and new accordion booties! No more leaky!!
Had to take the rear brake pads off, and spray them down with brake cleaner to get the trans fluid off of them(from the shock leaking). The rear brake has been totally useless since the shock started leaking....too much erl on the pads will do that.
I still have the "new" speedo I bought last year I need to install, too. One of these days.
Last weekend, I was out in the geeraj cleanin, and found not one, but TWO new oil filters for the bike I dint even know I had....I should clean more....

Wheels installed, gear oil changed, all plastics reinstalled, finished wiring blue LEDS. All of this was George though, I did a few things like replace license plate and a couple plastics...I mostly helped him with whatever he needed.

The new belts have helped a lot, it's weird, the motor kinda loped at idle before now it idles very smoothly. The new bearings and new tires make the bike feel like someone else's bike not mine. I'm going to have to learn this bike all over again it feels so different. At least the noise i heard when going over the speed bumps in my driveway is gone, the bike really needed fork bearings.

I put on a new fuel pump and lines today. On the ride home from work, I took a small bird in the shin... no fun. Thankfully I was wearing chapps...
Wow that had to hurt if you were at hi-way speed

I finally got Crystal on the freeway tonight after the new tires and steering head bearings and the new belts, everything we did added to a complete transformation. 110 felt smooth as glass and there was a lot of throttle left. I used to street race(1/4 mile) in highschool and I had some very fast cars with some very exciting times. Folks, none of it compares to the ride I just took. I don't plan to go that fast again for a while...but I will. :mischief:

Excellent Randy :moped: :good:

Good for you, always feels great when a lot is done to put things back to or better than new condition, well done. Steering head bearings do slowly wear into the race & can get pretty sloppy before some notice. New tires, bushings, piston rings, seals & Progressive, or better springs, in forks, plus shock upgrade out back, makes these old mounts ride better than when new. :yahoo: New belts with PROPER TENSIONING, & new or in good shape tensioners, make virtually no noise when running. :good: Enjoy your work, feels good to ride knowing you did all the work yourself, & understand how & why things feel so much better. Now back to work :whip:
