Sanded the fairing down there was a chip in it I didn't want to use spot puddy so I just hit it with 120 and a DA sander knocked off the bad spot and knocked off the clear coat. Going to respray it along with the lowers all at once. The trim that go's around the fairing rubber chrome stuff. Dose anybody know where to get this stuff I just don't see paying all that money at the Vetter store for small pieces. I want to replace it at a loss on what you would call that stuff or where to get it bt the role..
I got mine off of eBay, 15mm automotive chrome trim.

I had cataract surgery on my right eye yesterday so I can't do anything to the wing for a few days and probably won't do anything to the wing until after having cataract surgery on my left eye next month. when I was in my early 20's I walked out my front door only to be greeted by a baseball in my right eye and a few months ago while getting out of a car with an ice scraper I managed to poke myself in the same eye. today is the first day since poking myself in the eye that I don't have a headache from light

I got a phone call yesterday from a guy that new a guy that bought a 77 GL1000. He was having trouble getting it running and asked me if I would have a look. Yup you guessed it CARBURETORS.!!! So he asked me how much money it would take to get the carburetors fixed correctly I told him are you sure you want to know. And he said that's way to much money to spend on a bike out the gate =. I also told him he needed to replace the belts. I gave him a round about total on how much money it would take to get it going. So now I'm the proud owner of a 77GL1000. Here it is..

nice find!

Some people have ALL the luck!!! Great score! I guess I'm having a bit of luck too......got the head pulled a few minutes ago.....bent intake valve (I already knew that) exhaust valve looks OK. A few marks in the combustion chamber but nothing that won't clean up. The offending screw DID make contact with the piston but the piston doesn't appear to be cracked....just a shallow gouge that should clean up as well. A friend had a top end gasket kit (still sealed) that he no longer had a use for...freebie. The head will go to the machine shop this week for a full evaluation....hopefully the seat isn't trashed....from what I could see it doesn't appear to be torn up.

I had the engine at T1 to loosen and slip the left belt off....right belt still attached. Is there any problem with carefully rotating the engine to get the piston at TDC so I can clean it up and evaluate it?.....would I then just continue around to T1 again for re-assembly or do you have to go an extra rotation?
