Won a nice lookin' Standard grab bar on Ebay, and it was pretty cheap! I hope it's not one of those "too good to be true" deals. The pictures weren't great, but I can't see any rust. We shall see...

No key for the helmet lock, so it's coming off.
Looks great up close, I think it is a winner..By the way were you the one that bought that new shelter badge?..I was so close to pulling the trigger on that but I told Tony about it first then went back to contemplate and it was gone, Didnt really need it but they just dont show up often in new condition.

Yeah, I got it and a side cover emblem. Probably the first time I actually had money when these things show up! I need one more side cover emblem, and I'll have 'em all.

Excellent, I`ll keep watch and if I see one I`ll send you a PM and Email..You want new or darn near new I presume..30 or less.
I spend entirely too much time on ebay, luckily I`m tapped out now so no more buying for ahwile.

Thanks, Jeff! I found the "GOLDWING" side cover emblems new at Babbitt's (hondapartswarehouse.com) for $21 each, and now I have this eagle emblem, so I just need another like it. I thought the one I have was in decent shape, but next to this new one - nope! My bike hasn't had a shelter badge on it since I got it, so this will make a nice difference. We do need to find one for Tony's Rat's Nest...

Now, like you, I need to stay away from Ebay! Too many temptations!!! :whip:

Steve I told Jeff when he let me know about the new one on eBay that I already have a used one on the way for $20 aud, hopefully it is not too crappy.

I took a short ride this morning. I took m-39 south to I-94 west. it was on the cold side at 48* but I had my electric jacket liner under the tourmaster saber jacket, I was warm even though the liner wasn't on. I took I-275 south and picked up I-75 south, exiting at mile marker 18 and stopping at the pilot truck stop for snacks and $11 in gas. back on I-75 I crossed into ohio and headed east on I-280 and rode down to rt.2. it was still cold on rt.2, too close to water. I took rt.2 east to rt.6 and headed to Sandusky. it was a nice ride but the speed limit on rt.6 is 35mph for most of the way from sandusky to Cleveland so yes it took quite some time to make it to Cleveland. after refueling in Cleveland I took I-71 south down to lodi, oh where I took us-224 west. didn't need to but I made another stop in Willard, oh for gas. in findlay, oh I got on I-75 heading north, it seem like it had warmed up but it was still in the lower 50's and the wind had not died down any from the morning. I stopped in Monroe, mi at exit 15 for lunch so I went to the pilot truck stop to top off the tank. with a full tank and belly I headed north for m-39 and home, getting here after a nice but cool 420 mile ride

Excellent ride :good: :moped:
Too chilly for my blood but you guys are built for it :clapping:

Rode it to my favorite auto parts for new plugs and some 1/4" gas line.
Went to the pressure washer to blast most of the crud off then polish most of the chrome.
Sure glad I don't have a chromed out Harley, that's a lot of work!

i don't know if i am built for it or not but the electric jacket liner is the great equalizer. i took it off in monroe after having lunch and if my ride had been any longer than it was i would have been pulling over to put the jacket liner back on

Mostly working on the cager fixing rear brakes! :head bang:

Finished up and started the disassembly of the '82 in preparation for fixing the centerstand, pulling the forks (for polishing) and finally completing the conversion back to Standard! Have not had the engine out in a while and should be a real treat to get it out with no centerstand!!

Finally! I got the C5 installed, but I am waiting to hear from Paul before I go any further. He asked me to give him some feed-back on the encoder disk spacing after they changed the size of a spacer following Dan's install on his 1100.

+1 on lot of work to keep a Harley gleaming. 1/2 hour ride means 3hrs of cleaning around her!

Replaced the throttle cables on the 77, looked into the valve adjustment on the front right cylinder, valves are adjusted proper but I have no compression in that cylinder the rest are all over 150psi. I must have a bent valve. Question would the head from a 78 be the same as my 77?
