just got home, took lisa to angola, in. to pick up this '79 wing
file.php
Very nice ‘79.

Took the 1500 and went for coffee and the Grand Opening of the Indian dealership here on the island yesterday. Bit cool at 0630, hit -1 deg C. Note to self, need heated hand grips. Heated vest worked well. Speedometer stopped working. Seems the gear assembly on the wheel is pouched, and the cable doesn't turn freely. Ordering parts this week. Air compressor didn't work either. Starting yearly maintenance on the bike. Sonya has already started planning our June trip that will be down the west coast, over to the Grand Canyon and up the east side of the Rockies, back to Victoria.

As an aside, got my Collector plate for the 1500, it's 25 years old this year. Insurance has dropped significantly.

Did you test ride a full dress Indian? 1800cc I think. The torque is amazing.

Still haven't heard anything back about the Virago my wife is trying to buy.

If you have any questions about the Virago or need parts let me know (I have 3 of them)

Got any opinions on the 535?

Great bikes from I read on the forums, more common over seas than here I think.
All of mine are larger!

She's looking at cruisers for very short people. The Virago 535 looks tempting, so does the Vulcan 500 and even the lighter V-Stars.

The V-Stars are just "newer" Virago's ! She might want sit a 750 virago from 88 to 96.

It wasn’t actually today but a couple of days ago. On Sunday I found some second hand tyres and wheels for my Forester that I am selling and headed off into Brisbane to pick them up. On the highway the a/c cut off and I noticed that the temp gauge had climbed up to 3/4 so I turned off the headlights ( used as DRLs and on the earlier Subies used to cause one thermo fan to cut out (conserving power?)). I pulled off into a servo(gas station) and checked that the thermos were working (didn’t use my fingers this time :whistling: ) and noted that the recovery bottle was pretty full. I drove onto slower streets to get to the sellers place and then to our daughters place. After the car had cooled down and we headed home it was still getting hot at high speed. As it was the original radiator that is now 13 years old I decided to replace it with a new one. Dad gave me some good advice on how to estimate if your radiator is fairly blocked, he now weighs them and refers to his supplier to find out what the new radiator weighs. He has found that the blocked radiators are heavier. I didn’t weigh mine but just did the old 2 handed comparison and the old radiator was definitely heavier. As the new radiator was a universal fitment it had a transmission cooler and fittings hanging off it, so even allowing for a lighter construction method than the original manual radiator it was still much lighter.
New radiator and coolant installed
New? Wheels and tyres
The old wheels.

Almost bombed a phone interview today. Somehow I got the wrong information for the interview, so it started late. IMO, their should be a stronger candidate after all of that, but somehow they still seem interested in me. I'm slightly worried about that.

Still waiting for a followup phone interview from You've-Heard-of-Them, but I wouldn't be totally opposed to this job.

I like the new wheels
They are my favourite wheels of this series Forester. We had the same ones on Ruth’s Forester that was stolen back in 2013. The best part is that they cost half as much as buying a replacement mag wheel (large gouge out of the bead lip) and four new Chinese tyres ( the original ones are cracked and really old Goodyear NCTs which they stopped making many years ago here). :hihihi:

Wire harness repairs. NOT on the Slug!

I bought a 2002 Ford Focus wagon in November to take the place of the Slug. The rear electric windows would not go up or down and I assumed it was either a fuse or the master switch (common on these cars). Turns out, fuse was putting out power, but no power at the other end of the wire ate the switch. Bottom line, wires broken in the door at the hinge. It appears that at some point, a previous owner had something get stuck in the door as it was closed and it cut the wires. Pulled the harness out, cut and repaired the wires. Will try it back in the car today.

Rode down to the Honda dealer and bought one (1) crush washer. Ten more ordered from ebay vendor. Filled the project with oil, cranked until oil light went out. Put the battery on tender. Next is fuel lines and exhaust.

Ordered oil filters for both the Goldwing and my wife's Ninja. Went with NAPA Gold, since it looks like WIX is still making them.

Thinking about running Rotella T4 15W40 in both bikes this year. I may use something else in my CM400 since it has an air-cooled engine that runs hotter, OTOH, the T4 is probably a better grade of oil than what it was designed for.
