I dug up and winched out a 30 year-old boxwood in preparation for our front deck being removed and doubled in size. One down, one more to go.

What winch did you use?

A harbor Freight ATV/UTV winch on the front of my wife's Mule 610. Had to dig about a foot all the way around it to cut most of the bigger roots before it let go.

I think this is the one. We've had it four or five years. Been pretty useful.

Very nice. I paid $169 aud delivered and it was a 4000lb with 2 remotes and a doubling pulley/ hook. I wanted the higher capacity and one with a rotational clutch locking mechanism which was a bit more expensive. So far I am really happy with it. I shortened the rope by 3mts as I don’t need the extra length in the trailer and it actually improves the pulling power with less turns on the drum.

I was sliding the tires on her mule until I backed it up and dropped the rear tires into a ditch. Then I was stalling out the winch. Finally with enough 1" roots cut through the boxwood gave in. Too hot this week to try the other one. Maybe next week. And I'll go to Pete Boody's services on Thursday.

My other Honda, the Twinstar 200, crossed a milestone yesterday. 1/4 of the way to rolling it over!

This was taken when I got to work. Actually rolled in the evening on the ride home. To and from work (about 20 miles each way) is the majority of my riding. It's a very different ride than the 'Wing.

I'm on the Twinstar, my cousin from Phoenix is on the OldWing. He's a HD guy and never got comfortable with the aftermarket floorboard shifter. But he LOVES country riding in the NE.

The wife and I both went out before it got really hot this morning and did some work. She picked beans and tomatoes and such in her garden, I pulled the other boxwood from out front in preparation for having the deck ripped out and a new expanded one built.

Pete Boody's receiving of friends is at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN Saturday 4-6 pm, service following. Chris (Moose) has requested that those that have them ride their bikes. I will either ride the Hunley or the '79.

Note to self..........

When rebuilding or cleaning GL1100 carbs and you let them sit on a table post cleaning for 3 months, do a gasoline leakdown test before installing on engine and then installing engine back into the bike.

Got everything installed and fired up the bike. She started right up! :good: :yahoo:

10 seconds into running, I smelled gasoline! Looked down and gas was pouring out the #2 carb. Pulled everything off and check all of the screws to be sure I did not miss anything. Setup my portable lawn mower tank (with shutoff valve) in a seat above the carbs. Pulled the CV slides so that I could see inside. Accelerator pump working fine. Opened the gas valve and flowed gas to the carbs. Gasoline came bubbling up right through the #2 intake.

Example:

Drained the carbs, pulled the #2 float, needle and seat. Cleaned the rubber needle tip and and it sealed perfectly when air was blown in. Pulled and cleaned the other 3 just because.

Visibly, there was nothing to see on the tips. Ran them over 320 grit wet sand paper and it smoothed the surfaces. Setup the lawn mower tank again and this time no leaks even with shaking the carbs and turning them 45 degrees in every direction. Back on the bike and everything started fine with no leaks and no gas smell in the exhaust.

Again, if your carbs are sitting, recheck before inserting on bike.

mcgovern61, You left the reflectors on the trailer on :hihihi:
Isn't amazing how well they work even with just the flash from a camera. Folks have told me that when following my trailer at night it sure is easy to see.

Took the Goldwing to Red Wing, Minnesota today. If it wasn't for the road construction, I'd have pulled to the shoulder and taken a picture of the Red Wing boots plant, since I'm guessing someone here probably thinks fondly of them.

The delayed motorcycle maintenance is being a minor pain though. The rear brake felt a little weak during the trip. I've yet to rebuild the rear master cylinder, so I'm guessing some bit of rubber is giving out and either leaked too much fluid or is letting air in the system. Tempted just to do the whole rear brake system - rebuild both the master cylinder and the caliper, and replace the line.

Also, I keep looking at this luggage set. If it was candy wineberry red, I think I'd have bought it by now. But $200, even for a complete Honda luggage set, is a little spendy for me. Thoughts?

$200 is a good price for that set if they have the key for locks (should all be the same key). I have the same set and they are great! (I paid more than $200.) Each bag is interchangeable and all three pop off with the turn of a key and pull of a pin. That makes it real easy to work on the rear wheel, rear brakes, etc.

I removed the trunk and replaced it with a larger trunk because I converted my bike back to a Standard and needed the extra space.

went over to JW's and picked up the sunL 70, he put new tires on it for me. got out early and gave it a bath, installed a phone holder so i could have a speedometer and all, installed a bicycle headlight just incase then went for a short ride
