2nd day no ciggs, no coffee, I feel like crap. The oxy-5 pain killer isn't having any effect on my finger or hand, just my digestive system.
Doctor says i'm a healthy man other than the finger surgery, so how does anyone that's in any less than perfect health survive this, and why am i apparently immune to pain killers that supposedly work for everyone else?
The doc's punishment is more than needed. Personally I'd hold off trying to quit the cigs and coffee til after your finger heals.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering if they were not using this as an excuse to let me be in just enough pain to make me wanna quit everything i might possibly find enjoyable including sex! I told the doctor if I were to loose a leg or an arm, I would still find a way to ride my motorcycles, and start every day with 4 cups of coffee in my mega-mug. I don't really think that's asking too much out of life. Ciggs are about to go up anther 60 cents a pack my order of his Royal Cowardice Virginia Governor Black-Face Northam-Shire. Gas taxes are being doubled as well. This is how Democracts improve the standard of living, for themselves, screw the rest of us.

Is your doctor nice enough to prescribe more/different drugs? I've had to do that before, due to too much pain.

Thanks guys. I rode 3 or 4 times when it was infected, which didn't help. So now I am banned from using that hand for work And riding, lol!
I'm also banned from smoking and strongly advised to hold off on coffee. Those 4 things are mostly what my life is all about, now i'm just a keyboard vegetable, lol!
sorry about your finger GTC, do take the time and let it heal properly. mean while my foot is getting better, I've been on the GSA about every day since last saturday

He might, but that won't be until Monday when he is available in the office. They say day 3 is the hardest, I think I am going to go get 1 pack of ciggs this evening and ration them over the weekend.

Yeah bro, ya gotta be ready to quit IMHO. They say to keep trying but for me that just meant a miserable life of failed attempts.
I think that's worse than not trying to quit at all. But if it works for you, that's great.

For me to quit, I told myself it's time. I gotta do it. I was coughing constantly, even in my sleep and waking me up. 40 years worth.
I stopped buying and that was it. March 25th 2019.

Strangely what helped me the most to succeed was not telling anyone I quit.

Thanks William. I was also thinking of that day last year when we both stumbled out of the trucks and hurts ourselves, me my leg, and you your foot. I felt fortunate to heal from that one in only 6-8 weeks, while it has taken you a year to get back to just near-normal. Now I'm afraid this hand surgery will take the rest of summer to heal, and I can't be out of work that long. I am glad to hear that you are able to ride the big bikes again!
Cheers!

Have you considered trying the gum or a vaporizer instead?
Ggum- I hate gum, lol When I had enough teeth, i was always biting my tongue or cheeks when I chewed gum. to me Chewing gum = pain, lol. No, Dan is right, it is easier to quit when you don't tell anyone. I did go 2 days without smoking and a day and 1/2 w/o coffee. I finally went a bought a carton when I read the news of the tax hike in a few days. I hjave stretched 1 pack twice as long as usual so far. I won't chain smoke nor because smoke in general does hurt my wound, so I keep that hand far away from me when i do smoke one to even my temperament.

Oh, TODAY SAT on one of my bikes and scooted it around a little in the shop bay where I keep the running ones, lol. Just the little cm250, but it felt good just to sit on one after several weeks of this finger-madness, lol! Sitting on 2 wheels since I was 5, so it's just good therapy for me I guess. Calms my blood & makes me not think about the pain, lol!

I cut back dramatically back in the 90's by just eliminating places that I allowed myself to smoke. Ended up just in the car on the way home. You can guess how bad they got by the end of a pack. Finally in '94 my FIL quit. A tobacco farmer with a wife that got up in the midfle of the night and smoked. Figured if he could, I could.

Went on a pleasant 2 hour ride with the wife. While this may sound unremarkable to most, we haven't done that in several years. Most of my riding is the half hour commute to work and back. I do a pleasure ride once or twice a year. Too busy. Our oldest son is special needs and can't be left alone. The younger two are home, so we took the opportunity. My youngest got a couple of photos of the 2 of us ready to leave. (still waiting for him to send them to me) I've owned the bike over 30 years and Lynne has ridden with me many times, but we've never had a picture of the 2 of us on the bike. I said when the younger 2 are gone for good, I'll have to get a bike with a sidecar. That would solve 2 problems at once; the other being my ability to hold up the bike as I age!

about a week ago the CT 70H motor started having trans problems so I swapped motors and put the XL 70 motor in but didn't notice the broken exhaust studs. yesterday I took the Mighty CT70 over to my buddy tony and he got the studs out, put the exhaust on and fired it up. today I put the frame cradle on played with the carb some and took it on its first ride with the XL motor

Think I saw a Valk or a Rune today. I was in heavy traffic, and couldn't really take a look at it parked at the gas station, but it had a three into two exhaust system on the side I saw, and I thought I saw an exhaust on the other side. Longitudinal engine, and a cruiser.

very little riding for me yesterday. I took the golden turd over to JW's so he could wire up the 12v motor ( early minitrails are 6v ) but the motor had to be dropped just to take the 6v coil out and put the 12v coil in, thanks for your help JW. I took the Mighty CT 70 with me so I could ride around the block to my BIL and have a meal with him. only thing I've done today is water the front lawn and dry a load of cloths
