Progressed a little more today..
Started out cleaning the exhaust and the plan was to get it, the crash guards, and floorboards back on. Got everything out of the truck, and ready to install. That's when the trouble started. I couldn't find the dang thru bolt for the lower front engine mount, which also holds the crash guards and floorboards on. :Awe: Off to Lowes I goes, and get some 1/2" all-thread, nuts, and washers. Get back home, and realize I can't find the damn shifter linkage....ANYWHERE. I tore into the back of the Burban, not there. Trunk of my work Cad, not there. Work bench, not there. I'm convinced I left the dang thing at the other shop I no longer work for. I'm ready to call one of the guys out there to see if he'll look for the stuff Monday. So, I go ahead and get the all thread cut to length, and mount the right side exhaust, crash guard, and floorboard. Then decide to mount the left side exhaust, and fire it up for a while, just to make sure it will still start. About halfway thru doing that, and looking for something else, I find this...
oh2: Lower thru bolt, shift linkage, and the two friggin bolts for the air cleaner....
Oh well....gettin old sux, but whaddya gunna do?
Anywho, got it all back together, or all I was wanting to do today. I did get the rear chrome stuff bolted back on, too. Need to wash/wax all the tupperware, and still need to do some repairs to the fairing, but I can do some of that in the evening during the week. I did see a SMALL coolant leak from the lower hose housing...just one small drip on the floor. I tightened the bolts around it a smidge, and after running the engine, the leak appears to have stopped. I really happy with the way it starts, and it idles smooth at 1000rpm....it's
never done that. I will still need to synch the carbs, but I think I wanna put a few miles on it first.
So....here's a vid of the first firing after installing the exhaust, and then a few pics of the bling install...
