Yesterday I took the Hunley to Brushy Mountain Penitentiary for their first Pistons at the Prison show. Today after church I cut a new tab for the left side cover of the '79 out of take-off ABS and glued it (ABS plumbing cement) to the cover. Then, I removed the bimetalic voltmeter that was reading a volt low and replaced it with an LED digital. Nearing the end of no fairing season, so the '79 won't get many more miles this year. Might start the Ford TFI experiment on it soon, though.

I love it! I would pay good money to have a photo of you astride that machine at speed, hunkered down - a man who means business…

Live it up, William. We are here for a short time. You are one who makes the most of that time. Good on you!

Lol! Love it. Ok, ok. Even though you weren't technically "hunkered down", I owe you lunch.

Might start the Ford TFI experiment on it soon, though.

A TFI experiment?
Using Ford TFI modules to fire the coils, but still triggered by the points. Almost totally eliminates point wear, the modules control dwell, and standard components are retained and can be switched to in event of a failure.

Last night filled up the '79 on the way home from the Time Warp Tea Room (Knoxville gathering places on Tuesdays for old bikes and riders). Smelled gas this morning. Petcock. Ordered a rebuild kit and pumped the gas into a can. Fixed some barrel connectors that just were not capable of maintaining tight connections anymore. Cut some aluminum for heat sinks and mounts for TFI modules.
