Oh okay. so the groove right at the tip of of the splined shaft as viewed through the knuckle? Not the groove closest to the engine on the splined shaft.

Found it.

That's right.
I looked through the gallery manuals but didn't find a decent picture of it.

Perfect!
Pictures really do say a thousand words :hi:

I am not sure those are accurate pictures??? :nea:

I don't see any blood or hear any of the nasty language that goes along with installing or removing that circlip!!! :smilie_happy:

It took about 2 minutes to install the circlip. It's really easy with the gas tank and rear wheel removed! ;-)

Blood covered by the rust and muck of the Hunley. Cursing mainly afterward, when I discovered the PO put an INTERNAL snap ring on it.

The bike is coming along. Now just electrical, gas and coolant..where do all those wires go...wondering....wondering...

First pic is tonight, the second pic is the day I picked up the bike.

Back end of the faux tank (shelter) in front of the seat.

Thanks pidjones...found it! I have another couple of parts I'm not sure of. What about this?

I also discovered that my rad is leaking at the top seam. Is there an aftermarket new rad replacement or is it a rad shop repair only?

Also, are there any pics of how the wires are threaded through out the bike...like the neutral switch , oil sending unit etc. I'm confused... :headscratch:

That piece isn't familiar to me. Check the web for photos of routings. The neutral wire is a bear to connect. I suggest (this is what I'm doing for the Hunley) a pigtail and nearby inline connector for it. It routes behind the right belt cover from the top of the engine. The manuals (Honda's and Clymer) plus the parts diagrams give pretty good ideas of routing if you study them. In particular page 4-14 of the Honda manual. All are available on the 'net. Just be certain the head swings side-to-side with no binding or restrictions. The throttle and tach cables being the worst offenders, it seems. The rad should be a simple radiator shop fix if it just needs the seam resoldered.

I'm having trouble mounting my rad so I thought I'd post up....again. I bought a good used Rad. It looks like my old one, but it is off when I mount it. The top bolts mount up fine and the bottom left bolt does also(left when sitting on the bike), but I have to jack up the rad and pry it over to line up the right bolt holes. I've managed to bolt it up but it was more of a forced bolt up. It did not mount smoothly like the old rad. Any ideas? Does it matter? Anyone else encounter this? Could it be the wrong rad? It's kinda bothering me but maybe I'm overreacting.

Thanks Dan...that makes sense to me. Also, is there a clip or something to hold the tach cable in place at the engine side? I've placed mine into the hole and lined up the tab but it seems unsecure to me...am I missing something?
