It’s amazing how the mechanics business and manufacturers policies have gotten ...when you quit paying for transportation you have to throw it away ..cause no one will work on it..including the makers of it ...and there no parts going to be made for it ...that’s where this is all going

14 V at the battery when running is good. 9V with engine off sounds like bad battery.... or a serious short circuit, which I doubt.
Running with battery disconnected can cause problems so avoid that.

Not finding any shop to work on it is likely due to unskilled, inexperienced labor. Not necessarily the vehicle age. Here there are plenty of shops to work on it.
The dealer can be a very different story though.

What Make is this truck?

You misunderstood. I tested my car with the same multimeter - 14+ volts.

Hers was under 12V when running.

Tested the multimeter because it is kept in a freezing garage and I couldn't believe a shop didn't check out the charging system.

I thought about a short, but danged if I could think of a way it could be shorted out without something smoking. That's a pretty big voltage drop.

Truck is a Ford. Ranger, I think.

out having a little fun, made it home safely

What turned out to be the problem?

And I had two, totally unrelated images appear in my head. One of them was seeing two people on a Goldwing, wearing Evel Knieval suits...

The other I will NOT talk about...

And I'm not certain which is worse!!! :-D

So, I'm fighting a respiratory infection... have been for almost a week now... between moments of fever and chills, and doctor has me taking Doxocycline Monohydrate, which is... I THINK... what they mix into high-strength concrete as a plasticiser... I dunno...

But bein's that there was a job that HAD to be done, I towed the band truck out to the company shop on Friday, parked the trailer, and sat at the phone desk from 2pm 'till almost midnight. Shift is USUALLY 'till 10pm, but when there's systems down, I gotta stay at the console.
Anyway, after that, I unhitched the trailer, and used company forklift to modulate that trailer and it's beastly-looking load into the truck-bay to thaw out and dry off.
7:45am Saturday morning, I was back, pulling same OUT of the shop, affixing ramps, and about the time I had it all unstrapped, my trombone player Tony showed up, hopped into the driver's seat, and I picked up the tongue of the trailer far 'nuff for him to release the brakes and coast off onto the ground. Trailer parked in it's storage space, then I used the forklift to bump the big P30 step-van into the shop nose-first.

Drummer Bill showed up shortly after, with replacement ("Blue")engine, tools, and supplies, I carried the new engine in with forklift, and within an hour, he, Tony, and I had the 'Red' engine out. It took us a little fussing to get some parts transferred over and popped back into the chassis, and we took about 2.5hrs to get everything all connected back together, filled with coolant, etc., and running. She started up nice, and after a little adjustment of the vacuum advance, pulled it out, packed up all our tools, and drove it home. I ventured back over this morning with a bag of kitty litter to clean up the floors (not too bad), then came back home. I'm hoping that by mid-day tomorrow, the rest of this crud will be mostly gone, and returned to my normal 250% by Tuesday evening's annual band rehearsal... ten new tunes for the repertoire, a rather big corporate event coming up on Friday the 17th over in DesMoines... so it's a 2.5hr trip each way with the BigWhiteTruck carrying 3300lbs of stage gear...

Aside from that, I'm friggin' dead... Next assignment will be Smith's Station, Alabama the week of the 26th... last fall I was HOPING that I'd have that trailer done in time for a winter assignment south, so I could take the Wing along for some warm winter cruises... dunno if I'll be able to make that happen, as it still needs plenty of work...

Don't know. Offered to pull the alternator and check, but she hasn't taken me up on it yet.

Snaked out the kitchen sink. That was gross. Found human hair (at least I hope it was human), but nobody washes their hair in the sink for as long as we've owned the place.

Discovered the sink leaked when it was clogged. So I've got to figure out why. There was a cracked tailpiece I replaced, still leaks. Could be an old washer on the drain. Could be something else.

At least the snake reached the clog. I was fearful I'd have to open the basement cleanout, which is cast iron of unknown vintage. I hate dealing with old cast iron piping.

Funny. Retro Deluxe Edition.

How adorable, with a photo of the real one on the box, no less. Now you just need your own 1/8th scale "mini-you" to put on it! Maybe a vintage G.I.Joe, or "Big Jim"?

went out at 08:00 with the 824 toro snowblower and blew snow until 10:00, got several of my neighbors snow removed also then i fired up the Mighty CT 70 and headed down the block. got about halfway when the snow changed to rain. i was dressed for snow but not for rain so i headed back home

Harvesting parts from a 769A rack. Think they will be used to make the 764A rack better. And now, watching basketball. Waiting for Kentucky's game in a few hours. Wanted to watch the SpaceX launch this morning, but that was postponed to tomorrow, when I'll be at church.
